Groundwork - MSSTT
Here at Groundwork MSSTT, we want to stop talent and lives from being wasted due to long-term unemployment or a lack of aspiration. We are passionate about helping those who feel left behind find fulfilling work in order to enhance their wellbeing and help them feel part of a thriving local community.
We also believe that everyone deserves a second chance, including ex-offenders. Over 10.5 million people in the UK have a criminal record and many face huge difficulties in gaining employment thanks to the stigma that surrounds it. Those who have had custodial sentences in particular often face significant barriers to reintegrating into society.
Dignity, self-respect and a stable income are crucial to preventing reoffending, and securing employment is the key to achieving those goals. We have a long track record in helping ex-offenders gain the confidence, skills and experience necessary to move into stable employment, breaking the cycle of reoffending.
Since the early 1980's
Since the early 1980s Groundwork has been both working with and providing support to communities, businesses and local authorities in and across the Greater Manchester and Lancashire region.
The services that we offer and the projects we deliver are the values reflect all that we do are just as relevant to today’s challenges as they were over three decades ago.
Groundwork helps people to organise and work together to protect, preserve, improve and create green spaces like parks, play areas, allotments and nature reserves – our vital green infrastructure. Hundreds of thousands of people get involved across the country each year, creating better places to play, grow, eat and meet.
We also help people to create Friends Groups and mobilise support and funding for their local green spaces, such as at Queen’s Park in North Manchester. We make sure young people get their voices heard about the facilities they need in their area and empower them to take action to improve their local environment.
